Good Morning Everyone,

 

I wanted to share a recall with those on Methylphenidate ER (extended release):

 

For those of you with diabetes and are taking the drug, Methylphenidate ER (extended release), please contact your pharmacy. This is ER (extended release) only. Your particular medication may not be the same as the ones recalled. However, it would be prudent to call your pharmacy and inquire about this medication if you are on the Methylphenidate ER.

 

FDA (US Food and Drug Administration) Recall on 5/28/2020: Metformin Hydrochloride Extended –Release Tablets, USP 500mg due to detection of Nitrosodmethlamine (NDMA) (company name is Apotex Corp)

 

Research as shown that NDMA causes liver damage and cancer in rats/mice.
