Help Needed in Response to Rio Grande Flooding
  |

|  More than 6000 homes were affected in late June when torrential rains caused 
widespread flooding in the Rio Grande Valley, especially in Weslaco, Mercedes, 
and Pharr. The full extent of the damage and need is still being assessed. 
According to current FEMA registrations, 8457 homes have been damaged and 1662 
destroyed.​

How Can You Help?
While Volunteers in Mission (VIM) teams will be needed eventually, right now 
Early Response Teams are urgently needed. Financial support is also necessary 
to equip teams and purchase supplies.

Churches can give financially by sending a check marked Advance #2050 to the 
Rio Texas Conference office.

The Sacred Enneagram Workshop Coming to San Antonio

|  Join us from 9:00 am–4:30 pm on Saturday, September 15 at Coker United 
Methodist Church.

Are you wondering why so many people are talking about the Enneagram? What is 
that strangely-shaped star? Or maybe you have never heard of the Enneagram at 
all, but you seek to grow in your faith and well-being. While not an 
exclusively Christian tool, many Christians have used the Enneagram wisely and 
well to draw closer to God. Wherever you're starting from, you're invited to an 
introduction to this profound way of looking at who we are and our paths to 
spiritual growth.

Join us from 9:00 am – 4:30 pm on Saturday, September 15 at Coker United 
Methodist Church (231 E North Loop Rd, San Antonio, TX 78216) for an 
introduction to the Enneagram led by writer and spiritual director Chris 
Heuertz. Chris is co-founder of Gravity: A Center for Contemplative Activism in 
Omaha, Nebraska (gravitycenter.com).

|  As summer ministries continue, fall ministries are waiting to begin. Are you 
ready? 

The Trusted con Confianza Coalition and Facilitators are here- ready to help 
you as you prepare for the fall and all the exciting ministries God is calling 
you too. Now is the time to ensure your ministry leaders are Trusted con 
Confianza and certified for ministry with children, youth, and vulnerable 
adults. Information about this certification process can be found at: 
riotexas.org/safesteps. 

There are three steps to the Trusted certification process:    
   - Complete application online at safegatherings.com 
   - Review the Safe Gathering's online training course and take the test 
   - Attend an interactive facilitated session (online or in person) 

Options for step 3, the facilitated session include:    
   - individual participation in online webinars 
   - church organized group viewings of online webinars 
   - participation at an in-person facilitated session. 

Upcoming facilitated sessions can be found at: riotexas.org/safetrainings. 

If you have 10 or more people you need to train you can request an online 
webinar for a specific date/time. 50 or more people? You can request an in 
person facilitated session at a specific date/location. 

In order to ensure a facilitators availability, we ask for 2 months notice to 
schedule an online or in-person training. Submit any Trusted con Confianza 
facilitated session requests using the form located at:
