Good Afternoon Everyone, It is that time of year again to update your flu protection. According to CDC, the single best way to
protect against Influenza is to get vaccinated each year. Flu vaccine is recommended for those 6 months and older.
An annual seasonal flu vaccine reduces the chances that you will get the flu and lessen the chance that you will spread it to others. When more people get vaccinated against the flu, less flu can spread throughout the community.
It is more important than ever to protect yourself and others from the flu, not only for you and your household, but for the entire community. If you get sick and
have to go to the doctor, your chances of being around someone with COVID-19 are much higher. And reducing the burden that the flu and other respiratory infections have on the health care system can preserve already scarce resources.
The flu vaccine does not provide protection from the Coronavirus-19. A vaccine for the Coronavirus-19 is
in the works, but currently there is no vaccine to prevent Coronavirus-19 (COVID-19).
Flu vaccines are given at your doctor’s office, HEB, Wal-Mart, Walgreens and other pharmacies in San Angelo. The price of the vaccine differs depending on where you get it. Most insurances,
Medicare, and Medicaid will pay for the flu shot. Call first to verify the price. If you have insurance, call your insurance company to confirm that the vaccine is covered.
Please remember to practice safety measures when going for your flu vaccine:
1.
Wear your mask.
2.
Practice social distancing of 6 ft.
3.
Keep your hands away from your face
to keep germs away from eyes, nose, and mouth.
4.
Wash your hands x 20 seconds, especially after touching any frequently used items or surfaces and before and after using the restroom.
If unable to wash your hands, use a hand sanitizer that is at least 60% alcohol.
Blessings to each of you, Charlotte Johnson, Wesley Nurse 325-763-3838
